Onions for a Lifetime!

So Dad bought a bunch of onion sets. I weeded and tilled the soil and got it ready for planting. While I continued to weed and till I had Ariel plant the onion sets. I had her plant 3 rows of yellow, purple and white onions. I pulled one out the other day and had it with a hot dog - it was quite tasty. I'm not sure if it was a white or yellow - pretty sure it wasn't a purple one. Also check out the squash that survived the frost and is doing quite well. It probably won't make it to full growth and produce anything but maybe next year.

Yard Landscaping

So I'm sure you all know that Dad has been having the yard landscape done this summer. We have had several heated discussions about it - and I finally said, "Do what you want, because you will anyway!" So I am just murmuring all the time about the whole thing and then documenting the changes with the help of Ariel (my blogger guide - who has no patience for the blogger-illiterate bum). I told her to back-off cause I was just a kindergartener at this stuff. She didn't react well - let's say my hearing is even dimmer! lol So here is the yard under construction.

Here is the beginning of the construction process:

Raising the Backyard: It is now pretty much one level from the back northeast corner of the house to the ditch at the edge of our property. The big truck was bringing in dirt from 8 in the morning until 5 in the afternoon all day long for three days!

A Wyoming Water Wonder

When dad had the sprinkler system put in, he also had a drip-line put in the flower box areas (so some of Dad's ideas are good). You all know that the raspberries are in the back flower box and it is amazing what a little water each and every day does for output of raspberries. We have been picking non-stop since they have come on and they are delicious. Matt says they aren't as sweet as Grandma Haderlie's, but I'm just excited about the amount we have this year. Ariel has picked them several times for us and of course we all sneak 2 or 3.......handfuls as we go by. This morning Ariel and I went and picked two and a half pounds of raspberries and there are still more to come. I was surprised and saddened by how many had already become to ripe and dried on the branches. I've also been surprised that the birds haven't been stealing them - a nasty mean bee keeps guard on them though.

Momentous Occasion!!!

So I spent several hours today looking at all of your blogs and I got jealous. Actually I thought this is really awesome and I loved looking at all of your creative ideas. Then I went to make a comment - and the blasted thing wouldn't accept my comment - idiot! So I decided that I needed to start this blog stuff. Needless to say, Ariel is so excited she is almost jumping out of her skin. And as Mel would say, "She is about to pee her pants!" So I hope you all look forward to my rants and ravings and to my several senior moments.
